Tell that to all the text that comprises most content in every board. Calling it more of an imageboard than sites that devote almost-all of every page to images is backwards. 4chan is a forum or BBS-minus-dial-in with delusions of grandeur.
I love it for what its for, but “imageboard” really ain’t it, and has never been what it was known for. Might as well preach the glory/legitimacy of Pepe NFTs as that narrative.

They are imageboards. Just because their layout is slicker than imageboards used to look like 25 years ago doesn’t make them not imageboards
