2 days agoSome record players came with an adapter you could fit over the center peg which was sized to fit 45s. As for why the holes were so big, I think it had something to do with jukebox mechanisms, since that was what they were commonly found in.
The ones I had had the bars. Made them a real pain in the ass to get into place, too.
